In Memoriam: Jack Vassar

Jack Vassar, who began his tenure as president of Vassar Manufacturing Co. in the late 1960s and was elected as president of this Association in 1972, died Sunday, April 14. He was 92.

Vassar joined a hardware business founded by his father in 1950 and was instrumental in its expanding into a manufacturer of farm equipment with an international customer base.

Vassar took the helm at the manufacturing company in 1967.

Governors of Oklahoma recognized Vassar with an appointment to the state’s Economic Development Council in 1963 and as Small Business Man of the Year in 1972.

His family is hosting a celebration of life at the Vassar Community Center in Perkins, Okla., on May 19, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
