We are sad to report the recent death of William F. “Bill” Snook, who served as President of our Association in 1982-83. Snook of Bowling Green, OH had recently been in declining health, following a minor fall. He was 91 years of age when he passed away on December 25, 2013.

He worked in the drafting department of a defense plant at the start of World War II and joined the Army in 1943. He was a sergeant in the motor pool and served in the European Theater and, after the war, in occupied Japan.

Following his military service, he continued his education and trained as a mechanical draftsman, graduating from Williamsport Technical Institute.

He had a successful career in industry as a self-taught mechanical engineer, becoming a Plant Engineer and eventually Plant Manager at a number of manufacturing companies.

In 1969 he was hired to run Green Mfg., Inc. in Bowling Green and ultimately ended up owning the company, along with his son Jeff. He retired in 1986 and continued his passion for restoring cars.

Snook was both a good hands-on engineer and a good businessman, said Steve McEwen, who was on the firm’s board and became a friend.

“You’d go out to see him sometimes and he’d be lying on his back under a Model T Ford,” McEwen said. “He was very comfortable with a wrench in his hand. He had studied all sorts of automotive technology and knew every part of the automobile.”

In 2002, Bill and his son Jeff opened Snook’s Dream Cars Automobile Museum to showcase and display his extensive collection of antique/classic vehicles, and automobile memorabilia.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held in the spring at Snook’s Dream Cars, Bowling Green, OH. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting .
